Artist's Comments

Pencil, Watercolour pencil, Watercolours, and ink, on an scholars article about Jan van Eyck. [something i had to print out and read for University]
Again... colour/brightness issues when scanning. I wish i could just pin up the actual drawing on the internet like you would to a wall.

Comments/critique quite welcome indeed.

Reference: [link] As you can see i got rid of the hat.

Looks excellent. I like the varying levels of opacity across the image.
My only critique I have is that the teeth seem to be straight on while the head is a bit at an angle (front side view).

Painting on books/articles is about the coolest thing ever. You were the one to show me that, because I never would have thought about it. It's pretty awesome though.

:aww: Thanks. I started out with working in a book because of a project last year. Then i realized, why not take all the paper i have to print of articles, essays etc for school [or the reading packages i have to buy] and draw or paint on them. Why waste the money and paper right?
:iconkasiasdragon:
I don't know if I could actually draw in a book, but articles and magazines, yeah. I could definately destroy those. But books... *hugs the books* Probably not those. But still, it's pretty awesome XD

Very cool, I was wondering what a project like this using colors would look like, and now I know. I love the way that the text is perfectly visible in the white portions and fades dependant on the darkness of the color. Gives it a very unique look. If I didn't know any better I would say that you just scanned a watercolor of him, and the article page and did a collage in Photoshop or something.

"Take that, culture!"

Haha that would require having photoshop :P
Yea i quite like the way colour/watercolour works with the text. I had fun!

That was kinda half the challenge of that project, and a bit of the statement really. I cherish books more than anything, well its one of the most cherished things i have. So sitting down and reading, then drawing on the pages to never read them again.. scary as all hell.
